Learning objectives and brief outline
Abstract
This learning module deals with the options for a new peaceful order in Europe after the Russian invasion in Ukraine and the foreseeable exit of the United States from its role as stabilizer in Europe. Specifically, it discusses the literature on ending wars, dealing with the concepts developed by research to explain the conditions for the settlement of military conflicts and the potential for negotiated solutions. Political science approaches to explain the success and failure of negotiations will be presented, and then applied to the current case of the Ukraine war.
