Reflecting on learning
If you want to present content, ask yourself the following questions in advance:
- Will the presentation take place in a live setting, or
- will it be viewed without me?
Should I give the presentation, or would I prefer students to present their results, for example?
This page will first introduce the tools that are commonly understood as presentation tools, and then illustrate how presentations, especially when using a learning platform, can go far beyond traditional slide presentations.

Classic presentation with the learning module
The learning module offers the following functions for presentation purposes:
- Presentation mode in the settings
- Interactive elements such as interactive videos and images or, for example, accordions
- Option to link all content on the internet or cross-link to other ILIAS objects

Individual views in the data collection for the presentation of tabular content
The data collection is primarily suitable for collecting similar information in a table, but you can use the so-called single view to customize the display of your entries according to your needs.
- The single view provides you with the full range of functions offered by the page editor.
- The entries in the table are displayed one after the other as pages that you can design using a kind of mail merge function.
- You can link directly to a single view in order to use the function in other contexts.

The portfolio as a presentation folder
The portfolio consists of individual pages that are arranged as tabs. In this respect, it can be used as a presentation tool.
- Take advantage of all the features of the page editor
- Share your portfolio with other users
- Allow comments on your pages
By the way: In your personal desk under Portfolio, you can view the portfolios shared with the entire university in the “Portfolios of other users” tab if you select “All registered users” in the search filter under “Shared with.”
In principle, almost all tools on the learning platform or even websites can be used for presentation purposes, e.g. by showing them live. For example, a forum could be used to present a discussion thread, or a glossary could be presented as the product of a piece of work.

Use bibliographies or web links to present a list of relevant literature or sources.

In Etherpad, texts can not only be written collaboratively. The tool also allows you to view a film about the creation of a document. This can be used very effectively to present the writing process.

Show different levels of meaning for terms in the glossary by creating multiple definitions or linking the glossary into a learning module to automatically recognize the terms and make them interactive. The glossary can be used both in live presentations and as a standalone result of work on definitions.
Even a course can serve as the basis for a presentation, e.g. if you are the target audience for addressing a didactic issue. The page editor in particular allows courses to be designed in such a way that they can also be used on their own to guide potential course participants or addressees in a plenary session.

ILIAS evaluates surveys itself. The evaluation can be viewed in the “Evaluation” section and can be presented as part of a presentation. Depending on the type of question, ILIAS generates bar or pie charts and legends to visualize the results of surveys.

Wikis are dynamic, constantly evolving objects. However, the current status can be used as a basis for evaluation or presentation. All functions of the page editor are available to you. In addition, you can use the statistical data to present the development of the wiki or compare different versions live to illustrate processes of cooperation and crowd knowledge.
