Cloze Question
Cloze Question
The Cloze Question can be designed in many different ways.
You can choose between a Text Gap (student has to write the answer) [1], a Select Gap (dropdown menu with answer options), and a Numeric Gap (numbers within a certain range of numbers can be asked with this type, for example, if there are only estimated values). Unfortunately, Numeric Gaps and Text Gaps are displayed similarly. Thus, it is advisable to clearly formulate the questions in such a way that one knows that a number should be inserted in the field (see the last and second-last gap: a number is asked in the second-last gap but it is technically possible to write out the number in the field)
Long Menu
Also, the so-called Long Menu Question is available for use. This question type can be used to create input fields, in which stored answer options will be automatically displayed in the order of the inserted letters. Several correct answer options can also be stored here. The advantage of Long Menu Questions is the possibility to display answer options from a .txt file, which eases inserting answer options. However, it is not possible to give individual answer options different points. The Long Menu Question is particularly useful if the same long list of answer options is often used in the learning materials. An example would be in the medical field with a long list of medicine options.

Please note that spaces at the end of an input also can lead to mistakes and ILIAS cannot differentiate between content and spelling mistakes.
