Research Data Management - an Online-Introduction (HeFDI Data Learning Materials)
Title page
Publisher: HeFDI - Hessian Research Data Infrastructures
This learning module is a fundamental revision of the online learning module "Research data management at a glance - an online tour" of the FOKUS project - research data courses for students.
Authors in alphabetical order: Esther Krähwinkel (Philipps University of Marburg), Patrick Langner (Fulda University), Robert Lipp (Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences), Andre Pietsch (Justus Liebig University of Giessen)
Review: We would like to thank the colleagues of the Thuringian Competence Network for Research Data Management, the working group Prof. Goesmann, Bioinformatics and Systems Biology, University of Giessen, Dr. Reinhard Gerhold, University of Kassel, Marion Elzner and Stefanie Blum (Geisenheim University), Hanna Prautzsch, Tobias Przybilla and Muriel Imhof (Research Data Management Department, University of Marburg) for critical feedback.
Requirements: No previous knowledge is required for this learning module. The chapters are thematically based on one another, but can also be worked on individually. If information from other chapters is required, these are linked locally.
Target group: Students, doctoral candidates and researchers who are looking for a first introduction to research data management.
Learning objective: After completing this module, you will be able to understand and implement the content and meaning of research data management. The learning objectives in detail are prefixed to the respective chapters.
Content: If you prefer reading, you can access only the content of this learning module through the text. However, the inserted videos offer further access to the respective topic, so that those who work well with video explanations can see the content presented in a different way. The learning module is in English. Some of the videos or references are in German, especially if an English version is not available and the further references explain the specific German conditions.
Duration: If you read all the texts with concentration, you can estimate the total processing time to be around 4 hours. If you also watch the videos or receive further information e.g. if you follow the links provided, it will take you longer. And you shouldn't forget to take breaks either. The approximate duration of the individual chapters can be found in the table of contents.
